Carey Chico is a broadly talented Executive with 16 years in the game industry. He has worked on all platforms, from PC, to console to mobile. He is one of the few Art Directors to rise through the ranks and become an Executive Level Creative Producer.
Most recently, Carey co-founded his first start-up, Globex Studios, focused on making online free-to-play games for the China market. His most recent work was launching a freemium mobile game on iOS entitled Secret Kingdoms Mobile.
Carey got his start at Activision in 1996 employing his marketable skills as an Artist/Animator. From there, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a creative and production lead on a myriad of historic games and franchises. His biggest success at Activision was re-launching the Battlezone as a new genre of realtime action strategy games.
After this success, he helped found Pandemic Studios and began to develop products in the Star Wars Universe. He rose through the ranks to become the Executive Producer/Art Director of the studio, overseeing development for 6 console teams making sandbox action games. Titles to his credit include Battlezone 1 & 2, Star Wars: The Clones Wars, Star Wars: Battlefront 1 & 2, Full Spectrum Warrior 1 & 2, Mercenaries 1 & 2 and Destroy All Humans 1 & 2.
Carey has always been an active member of the industry at-large, externally as a GDC Advisory Board member as well as a frequent speaker at events and writer/reviewer on Gamasutra/Game Developer Magazine. After EA purchased Pandemic, Carey participated as an active member of two high level committees focused on revamping EAs Greenlight and Development Frameworks for the entire organization.
